Astuty is a professor at Razak Faculty of Technology and Informatics, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). During her more than 30 years in UTM she has served the faculty and the university as a Dean of Razak Faculty (2019-2022), Deputy Dean of Graduate School (2017-2019), Postgraduate Academic Manager of Razak School (2015-2017), Head of laboratories and also Operation Manager for Executive programme. She was also the secretary for Malaysia Postgraduate Dean Council appointed by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. She received her Bachelor in Materials Eng. (pioneer batch) from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 1988, MSc in Corrosion Sc. and Eng. from UMIST, UK and PhD (Mechanical) from UTM in 2005. Her research interest is devoted to Materials Engineering specifically on high temperature oxidation of alloys, compositional modification of newly developed (α+β)Ti-Alloys, developing Accelerated Corrosion Test Procedures for Malaysia automotive industry, Life Assessment of Oxidized Supercritical Tubes in Power Generation Boilers, Ultraviolet Treatment for MIC of steels and rejuvenation of Ni-Cr superalloy turbine blade. She has been annually appointed as a Visiting Professor at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, Bangkok, Thailand since 2015. She is also a panel of expert for several universities in the area of Materials and Corrosion engineering.
