The biotechnological processes known as "biometallurgy" deal with the interactions between living things and metal compounds (including minerals). Growing green, low-carbon energy technologies need certain metals, namely PGMs (platinum group metals) and REEs. Biometallurgy enhances the likelihood of extracting these metals from low-grade mineral resources using bioleaching procedures. It is a biotechnology company that bases its operations on ideas like bioleaching, bioaccumulation, biosorption, and biomining. The term "bioleaching" describes how microorganisms break down metal complexes at their sources. The technique can generate organic acids or other solubilizing substances naturally or by using microbes. Therefore, this process might be a direct or indirect microbial metabolism. Biometallurgy is a non-toxic, energy-efficient method that may be used for high-intensity therapy. Oil recovery, microbial mining, bioleaching, waste management, and metal recycling are all included in the field of biometallurgy. Compared to the traditional mining technique, biometallurgy is a less expensive procedure. When the conventional approach fails to extract specific metal compounds, such as gold, copper, and zinc, it is occasionally used. (Uncommon earth elements.
