Deep-buried metal ores are recovered by mining. There are very few metals that are discovered in their pure metallic forms, such as the noble metals gold, silver, and platinum. The scientific field of metallurgy is concerned with the extraction of metals from ores that are found naturally in the environment. The bulk of elements, in particular metals, are combined with other elements to form minerals, which are where they are most commonly found. Only a small percentage of the minerals formed by the combination of one element with several other elements are reliable sources of that metal. Ores are the name for these resources. Mining is the process of extracting metal ores from extremely deep layers. In varying degrees, metal ores may be found in the crust of the planet. The removal of metals from ores allows us to use the minerals found on Earth! The metals that are used to build constructions and bridges are not the same as the ores. Ore is made up of the desired metal complex as well as impurities and earthy substances known as Gangue. Find out more by reading on.
